Newfoundland Quarterly, Memorial University

Originally from Alberta, Michelle Porter is currently working with the Newfoundland Quarterly at Memorial University. With a background in journalism and folklore, Michelle’s current research interests focus on the ways in which resilience both constructs and is constructed by personal and community narratives, life histories and place-based identities. She is interested in community-based research and has already been involved in community-based research in the Isthmus of Newfoundland and Labrador. During the course of her PhD, she focused upon stories of change, identity and resilience in two Newfoundland communities. Michelle graduated from her PhD in 2016.
