Originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, Miranda is currently working on her MSc in the Rural Planning and Development program at the University of Guelph. Miranda previously completed her B.A. in Environmental Governance with an additional focus on International Development and Public Policy and Administration at the University of Guelph. Her research interests include social and community planning, and how planning can be used to build healthy and resilient rural communities. Her thesis research focuses on the current landscape of philanthropy in rural communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, and Atlantic Canada. Her research seeks to understand the challenges of, and potential for rural environmental charitable organizations to contribute to community and environmental resiliency.
