Brady recently completed the Master of Arts in Environmental Policy program at Grenfell Campus, working in collaboration with the community of Ewipkek (Flat Bay). Currently, Brady is working towards a Ph.D. in Rural Studies student at the University of Guelph. His research interests intersect between environmental stewardship, community development, and the inclusion of Indigenous knowledge in decision-making processes. As a settler scholar with mixed English/Mi’kmaw ancestry, Brady explores the roles and responsibilities of researchers engaging in community-based participatory research including self-reflection and critical thinking throughout the research process.

Brady is currently serving as the Regional Studies Association Blog Editor. The RSA Blog provides a platform for researchers, students, practitioners, community members and industry leaders to share their expertise on regional issues from across the globe. For more information please visit: https://www.regionalstudies.org/category_news/rsa-blog/ and to submit a blog piece please contact rsablog@regionalstudies.org.

During his Master’s studies, Brady was also able to participate in a unique summer program called Students on Ice, in which he traveled to Northern Labrador with a group of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students to learn about climate change adaptation, ocean literacy, sustainable development goals and truth, and reconciliation. This expedition was featured in The Telegram, which is available here.
