Lucas Arantes Garcia

Lucas is a Ph.D. student in the Transdisciplinary Sustainability program at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. He currently holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Management from the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and an M.Sc. in Ecology, Conservation & Wildlife Management from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil).
Broadly speaking, his research interests are on bioeconomy, ecology, global change, and sustainability. Some of his past research experience was on the conservation and sustainability of a Brazilian biodiversity hotspot and the climate change effects on plants, insects, endophytes and their interactions. Lucas is currently investigating the challenges and opportunities for the forestry industry in Newfoundland under the light of sustainable bioeconomy. The members of his supervisory committee are Dr. John Dagevos, Dr. Kelly Vodden, and Dr. Stephen Decker.
