Building Senior-friendly Spaces in Labrador City

Leanna Butters is collaborating with the Town of Labrador City to co-design a seniors’ trail park that will sit along the Frontier 53 trail in town. The first consultation sessions took place on Nov. 21, 2023, one at the 50+ Place and another at Gateway Labrador. These sessions focused on mapping important places and eliciting shared values to learn how a senior’s park space might function in this community. Follow-up sessions next year will build on the knowledge gained here to design the park space. This work is also contributing to Leanna’s PhD research, which is investigating social space in the community.
